Uniting the Power of Song Through Story and Community

In 2025, Common Events was established as an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit, formalizing its mission to bring people together through the power of song. Common Events will continue to be a premier gathering within the Christian music industry, inspiring audiences and creating spaces where stories and songs meet to transform lives.

Founded by Rebecca Jones, a music industry veteran, she recognized the need for events that authentically highlight the artistry and expertise of Christian songwriters. These events provide a platform for artists to have their voices amplified and connect the community through music.

In 2017, Rebecca launched Redbird Common, the organization’s flagship event inspired by her love of stories. This bimonthly songwriters’ round has grown from unassuming beginnings in a local café to a prominent theater in Franklin, Tennessee, featuring GRAMMY-winning artists and emerging talent alike. Anchored in the stories behind the songs, Redbird Common fosters an intimate environment where artists such as Amy Grant, David Leonard, Cody Carnes and songwriters like Ethan Hulse, AJ Pruis and Jeff Pardo share their work in an acoustic setting, offering audiences a unique experience behind the veil of the songs they know, connecting deeper to the message of the songs.

In 2023, Common Events expanded by developing additional events to further its mission. In Common was introduced as a regular songwriters’ round dedicated to spotlighting unsigned talent, providing a stage for rising voices. Common Worship was launched in 2022, as an intentional night of worship and prayer, led by respected voices in the church, offering attendees a powerful space to deepen their faith through music.

MISSION STATEMENT

Common Events is dedicated to uniting and elevating songwriters, whether emerging or established, by celebrating the unique stories behind their songs, fostering a sense of community and cultivating faith through our events.

VISION STATEMENT

To be a leading Christian music organization that promotes discipleship, fellowship, worship, ministry, and evangelism through storytelling and song. We aim to create spaces where faith deepens, community connects, and lives are transformed by the gospel.

In 2015, Rebecca founded Redbird Artists Agency, where she focused on managing a roster songwriters, worship leaders and touring artists. In 2017, she founded Redbird Common - the first, purely CCM writers-in-the-round series in the Nashville area and has since started two other brands, Common Worship and an indie CCM writers round called In Common.

Rebecca’s background brings with it a wealth of knowledge and industry experience.  Above all, she considers it a daily privilege to play a part in amplifying and expanding both her artists’ career and the platform they serve.

She lives in Franklin, TN with her husband Jason and their three children Kylee, Marilyn and Brighton.

About Our Founder

Rebecca Jones’s love for music began at a young age, serving behind the scenes in the events department at her church in Nashville, TN. This passion took her to Middle Tennessee State University where she graduated with a degree in Music Business.

She began her career in the music industry in 2004 at the Gospel Music Association, followed by an artist management team working directly with Michael W. Smith, author Frank Peretti and Amy Grant. Next she would be booking artists Switchfoot, Lincoln Brewster and Gungor at Elite Talent Agency, where she also played a role in jump-starting the career of hip-hop artist NF.
